Au verso
Installation video / wool

Au Verso (On the back side) is an installation which tries to link the infinitely wide with the infinitesimal, with, as an “in between”, the physical body. The canvas made of white and red strings is woven in the exhibition space and connects together two video screens. In the centre, a perfectly symmetrical 3D rectangular structure (1x1x2m), outlined by a stretched string of wool, erects and defines the observation point. It is an interrogation on empty space, on space and time and the constitution of this space. A video (56 min) shows an arachnidan spinning a web in which stars are fixed. Time is in suspense, the material is under perpetual tension. From this starting point - networks stretch, unite and connect each other – drawing geometry, the canvas, dense and red, mixes with white strings to end on the second video (58 min) where the infinitesimal is suggested by the recording of my beauty spots. Numbered, the naevus shape the physical and intimate body, the “I” in space. On this surface, points, lines and constellations join each other. By listing the physical traces on my body I wish to record its singularity to make a cartography of it, to get to know the back side of it.
